My story
Hi, I'm Jon Haloossim
I'm an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#158694) providing affirming therapy for the LGBTQIA2S+ community, creatives, couples, neurodivergent clients, and members of the kink community in Los Angeles, California. I support clients navigating identity exploration, relationship challenges and breakups, body dysmorphia, trauma, anxiety, and depression.
As a pansexual, second-generation Iranian-American therapist, I bring lived experience, cultural awareness, and a compassionate perspective to my work. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, understood, and supported in exploring your authentic self.
My holistic, client-centered approach integrates mindfulness, psychodynamic therapy, CBT, DBT, somatic therapy, and EMDR. Together, we'll connect mind and body, process trauma, strengthen emotional resilience, and develop practical tools for managing difficult thoughts and feelings.
My goal is to help clients move beyond self-criticism and overwhelm so they can build more meaningful relationships, navigate life's challenges with confidence, and cultivate a life that feels aligned with who they truly are.
My Journey To Becoming
A Therapist
As a person who often seeks unconventional paths, my journey isn't linear. Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly a decade immersed in the creative world of film, photography, and art, running my own studio and connecting with a diverse community of artists and creatives throughout Los Angeles. This experience gives me a unique understanding of the challenges many creatives face, including anxiety, self-doubt, burnout, identity exploration, and navigating career uncertainty. My background continues to shape my therapeutic approach, one that values authenticity, curiosity, and nontraditional ways of understanding ourselves.
On a human-to-human level, my goal is to create a safe, supportive, and affirming space where you can bring your whole self. Together, we work to explore your experiences, understand patterns, and foster meaningful change. Therapy with me is a collaborative journey toward healing, self-understanding, and lasting emotional well-being.
Inside The Session
Our sessions are led with curiosity to open doors into your life. We create a supportive, grounded space where you can pause, feel seen, and find relief from the demands of everyday life. In a trusting and comfortable environment, individual therapy allows you to explore your inner world, process emotions, and speak openly about your experiences.
I create a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to share your story, and collaboratively we create a tailor-made plan to your unique needs, goals, and life circumstances. Because therapy is not one-size-fits-all, our work together is collaborative and flexible. As the expert of your own story, I’m here to witness, advocate, reflect, and guide, adjusting gently to meet you where you are.

The professional stuff
My Professional Background
I earned an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles, where the program emphasized social justice and provided a broad perspective on the intersection of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and multicultural considerations. During my graduate training, I provided individual and group therapy at the Los Angeles LGBT Center. I also completed EMDR training through Thrive Training & Publications. Prior to pursuing psychology, I earned a B.A. in Film and Media Theory from UCSB.
I come from a creative and entrepreneurial background. For nearly a decade, I served as CEO of Astroetic Studios, a film and photography studio and art gallery. Building and leading a creative community taught me how to listen deeply, understand diverse perspectives, and adapt to the unique needs of the people around me. The experience strengthened my capacity for empathy, curiosity, and creative problem-solving—qualities that continue to inform my work as a therapist. Working in the arts also fostered a flexible, collaborative approach that I bring into the therapeutic relationship.
