You got questions? We got answers!

  • We are at 1555 W Sunset Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90026.

The closest intersection is Sunset Blvd and Echo Park Ave. The street entrance for our office suite is next to Hey Hey tea shop and the glasses store Gogosha.

  • We are not in-network with any insurance companies.

If you have a PPO plan and would like more guidance about how to ask your insurance company about out-of-network benefits, please see our insurance guide.

  • Insurance companies restrict how we work in therapy by limiting the number of sessions we can have, covering some mental health diagnoses but not others, or changing the types of benefits they provide.

Therapists are at their best when they are free to do what actually works for their clients instead of what an insurance company thinks.

  • The following rates are for our standard session length:

    Dr. Vanessa Spooner: $250

    Associate Therapists Individual Therapy: $160

    Associate Therapists Couples Therapy: $175

    Income-Based Sliding Scale: $100 to $150

Sliding scale reduced fees are limited, with priority given to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color/LGBTQ+ communities.

  • Health Savings Accounts (HSA)and Federal Savings Accounts (FSA) are great ways to pay for therapy. Please check first with your HSA or FSA that therapy is a covered benefit and if anything else is needed for you to be able to pay for therapy with your HSA or FSA card.

  • We love when people tap into community resources from an organization like Loveland!

You just need to give us your voucher codes before starting therapy, and we will submit the vouchers for reimbursement. The cost of therapy for you is just paying the difference, if there is one, between your therapist’s fee and the voucher’s reimbursement amount.

Never heard of Loveland? Find out more.

  • Monday through Friday: 8am to 8pm

    Saturdays: 9am to 4pm

Each therapist at EPCP creates their own schedule that works best for their life. Some of us like working early and can see you at 8am. Some of us like to start our days later and can see you in the evenings. Usually one or more therapists here will offer some Saturday appointments. We see people with all kinds of schedules and lifestyles and do our best to schedule your therapy at a time that works for you.

  • You can schedule a free consultation through our online scheduler here, call/text us at 323.474.0521. or email info@echoparkcreativepsychology.com – we do both video and phone consultations.

  • We work with people on at least a weekly basis. Some people work with us twice a week when they are really focused on developing a healthy structure for themselves or want to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being.

When appointments happen less than once a week, therapy is not as effective because we don’t get to hear from you frequently enough to be able to truly help you.

  • Individual therapy sessions are usually 45 or 50 minutes long. Each therapist at EPCP makes their own schedule and chooses how long sessions are. Oftentimes couples therapy is longer and may be 75 minutes or even 90 minutes long.

Sometimes we will also recommend 75-minute sessions for people in individual therapy as a way to have more support and/or go deeper into things than they can during a shorter session.

  • We love seeing you at the office, but we also know how important it is to also be able to have the flexibility of video sessions!

We mostly do video sessions over SimplePractice, which is our online practice management system that handles payments, scheduling, etc. If any technical issues happen with SimplePractice, we use a HIPAA-compliant version of Zoom as a backup.

  • Yes! We work with teens of all ages, and for kids, we are open to working with people as young as 10 years old depending on what they are looking for in therapy.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a method where you do not need to talk in great detail about your trauma in order to feel better.

EMDR is a structured therapy that allows the brain to reconnect to its natural healing process through bilateral stimulation (usually that’s eye movements).

With EMDR, you can reduce the intensity of feelings that get triggered by something that reminds you of your trauma and also gives relief from the amount of pain you feel from your trauma memories. Read more about EMDR.
