Trying to be someone you’re not has left you disconnected.

You spend so much time and energy striving to be the person your family, job, or society at large wants you to be.

People-pleasing has always been a survival strategy that worked for you, but it comes at a cost. 

It isn’t easy to know who you really are when you’re constantly contorting yourself to fit someone else’s idea of you.

It’s hard to feel safe in the world.

People have hurt you. And now that your trust has been broken, you’re not sure if you’ll ever feel safe again. 

You’re always on edge, waiting for the next bad thing to happen. 

And if, by chance, something good happens, you’re certain that it will quickly go away.

You give other people love, but not yourself.

Self-care is never your priority. 

You’re hypercritical of yourself and don’t think you’re worthy of good things. Why do you feel this way? 

Internalized homophobia and transphobia leave their marks on you. And if you’re a BI&POC queer person, the wounds of racism only compound the damage.

Finding your true self is the first step.
